The Sony Handycam DCR-SX40 is a standard definition camcorder from Sony's 2009 lineup. The camcorder has 4 GB of embedded flash memory allowing it to store up to 3 hours of lower quality footage. It features hybrid movie recording to the 4 GB memory and Memory Stick Duo media for increased flexibility. The DCR-SX40 is designed with a 2.7" touch LCD screen that rotates up to 270 degrees for multiple viewing angles.
The camcorder includes a professional Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar zoom lens for 60x optical and 2000x digital zoom. It also includes a 1/8" advanced HAD CCD imager for crisp video and still images. The DCR-SX40 has a built-in zoom microphone to add realistic sound to the footage.
